Band: All Time Low

Origin: Baltimore, Maryland

Genre(s): Pop punk, electronic rock

Latest Release: Last Young Renegade

In honor of the show on the Young Renegades Tour I will be attending at the end of the week, Loud Words Web’s first Artist of the Week is All Time Low. After well over a decade of releasing music, the band has grown a massively dedicated fan base although their sound continues to change. How have they done this? What’s the secret?

For one, All Time Low’s members (vocalist and guitarist Alex Gaskarth, lead guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zack Merrick, and drummer Rian Dawson) have proved to be just as human as the listeners they attract. Their obvious chemistry and brotherhood provides fans with remarkable “they’re just like me!” epiphanies.

Of course, no one cares how much you like each other if you’re not good. Fortunately, that’s not a problem for All Time Low. Sure, they’ve had their fair share of missteps (two words: Dirty Work), but their ability to admit and learn from their mistakes has made them a better band. Even while listening to songs that have been denounced by the fandom and band, their talent is undeniable. Gaskarth can write songs. Truth.

On that thread, the final thing that keeps All Time Low’s fans together unlike any other is the beautiful, relatable, or otherwise inspiring messages transmitted through the songs they perform.

Need further proof? Here are five essential All Time Low songs.

  • Let It Roll // So Wrong, It’s Right
  • Guts // Dirty Work
  • A Love Like War (ft. Vic Fuentes) // Don’t Panic… It’s Longer Now
  • Tidal Waves (ft. Mark Hoppus) // Future Hearts
  • Nightmares // Last Young Renegade
